My Yoga offering

Yoga is an awesome self-empowerment tool, whichever way you practice.  We know it brings benefits on all levels – physical, mental, spiritual – because it’s been around for thouands of years!  The modern physical form of asana yoga was developed relatively recently from the teachings of Krishnamacharya in the early 1900’s, and from him we now have Vinyasa, Iyengar and other styles of yoga.  But meditation and pranayama (focused breathing practice) have their roots in the ancient yogic scriptures.  By taking one’s attention inward and letting go of sensory and mind distractions, one discovers a profound sense of peace and calm.  A knowing.  This feeling is the source of our inner empowerment, and everyone has it if they just take the time to go there.

Bringing yourself onto the mat – setting aside the time, creating a safe, quiet space to practice  meditation, breathing or asana – is therefore an act of self-care.  It is here it’s really about YOU.  By switching off the mind chatter and taking your awareness into the body, you gain a sense of grounding and connection which is revitalising and relaxing at the same time.  You get a sense of Self.  And what can be more empowering than that?

My style of yoga is Classical Hatha. This means sequences combine stretching and strengthening with restorative elements, using the breath in and between the postures. In this way the practice has a balanced feel, both refreshing and relaxing. And speaking of relaxation, I believe this is a key part of the experience, so I leave time for Savasana (Corpse Pose) at the end in order for the body to assimilate all the goodness from the work. 

The practice has a particular focus. This could be a part of the body, for example core strengthening or chest opening. I also work with the body’s subtle energy system, where we consciously clear and open the energy centres along the spine – in Sanskrit these are called chakras. Whichever awareness you prefer to practice with, it’s for you to choose and enjoy. It’s all yoga!

Onsite classes are on temporary hold I’m working on my yoga offering which includes a yoga retreat in India in March 2025.  Exciting times!  So watch this space.

Face-to-Face Personal Yoga Classes

One-to-One sessions are the most effective way to learn what is going on for you in your body at the moment and work with that directly.  Enjoy the private space to practice more deeply and focused.

For people close enough to Midhurst, West Sussex to attend in person, we are now able to work together (symptom-free) at my house.
